Catherine Ann Matthews

Catherine Matthews MD, FACOG, FACS is Professor of Urology and Gynecology at Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston Salem, North Carolina where she serves as the Fellowship Director and Co-Director of the joint service line for Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Matthews is passionate about patient care and medical education and has received numerous awards for outstanding clinical service as well as local and national teaching awards. Dr. Matthews is the Chair of the Education Committee for IUGA and is the Director of the AUGS Clinical Course. She is frequently invited to lecture and perform live surgery at conferences nationally and internationally. Dr. Matthews’ research areas include outcomes of prolapse repair; fecal incontinence; bladder pain syndrome and stem cell therapy for urinary and bowel incontinence; she has contributed more than 90 peer-reviewed papers to the medical literature.

Dr Philip Tooz-Hobson

Philip is a renowned Gynaecologist, practising in Birmingham, who has spent 25 years training and working in the area of incontinence and prolapse.

He is one of only a handful of Urogynaecologists with a Department of Health clinical excellence award recognising his clinical expertise and commitment to improving women's health through his research programme.

Philip has also specialised in advanced surgical techniques for pelvic organ prolapse and has spent 15 years developing both keyhole surgery and vaginal approaches to surgery so that patients can have a choice of procedure to allow them to choose how they would like to be treated. He is a strong advocate of patient reported outcome measures and has an interest in value based healthcare. His results in the NHS are routinely recorded on the BSUG database and he uses the ePAQ system for quality of life measurement.
