Dr Geeta Singh is an advanced laparoscopic surgeon with the specialist skills required to perform laparoscopic hysterectomies as well as endometriosis surgery and colposcopy. She has a special interest – and many years of successful surgical experience – in treating issues such as prolapse, incontinence, endometriosis, abnormal smears, pelvic pain, abnormal bleeding and fibroids. Additionally, Geeta has significant experience in treating women with infertility and in the obstetrics field she consults patients in need of specialist antenatal advice.
Born and raised in India, Geeta always wanted to be a doctor, and specifically, a gynaecologist. She completed her initial medical training at the acclaimed Gandhi Medical College in Hyderabad. In 1995, Geeta and her husband moved to New Zealand with a desire to explore the natural beauty of the country. Auckland was the first stop, where the couple completed New Zealand’s qualification requirements and went on to work as house surgeons and registrars in both Tauranga and Auckland.
Upon moving to Christchurch in 2002, Geeta completed her specialist training in gynaecology. Since then, Geeta has delivered thousands of babies to South Island families and improved the lives of countless women. With her trademark humility, Geeta finds it difficult to name her proudest achievement in her extensive medical career. Rather, she describes it as a privilege to specialise in women’s health and to make a difference to lives.
Geeta is recognised for her clinical specialist expertise in urogynaecology and is an authority on the surgical treatment of stress urinary incontinence. Due to her many years of documented successful experience in a range of surgical interventions, patients are often referred to her specifically when post-surgical complications arise or incontinence surgery fails.
